NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), is a new way to support people living with disability in Australia. It enables those eligible to access the support and funding they need to achieve a better standard of living for themselves, their families and carers.

The NDIS funds reasonable and necessary support and services that relate to a person's disability to help them achieve their goals. Some examples include:

  • Regular personal care support
  • Accessing therapy services
  • Learning new skills
  • Becoming more independent
  • Improving health and wellbeing
  • Becoming more actively involved in the community
  • Gaining work experience and employment

The NDIS is available for people aged 0-65 living with permanent or significant disability. This means the person is likely to have the disability their whole life, and it affects how they do everyday activities like making meals, having a shower or going to work or school.
